How are words decorative?
In addition to the message, the words, paint color, font and arrangement of letters become highly decorative elements. For example, you may highlight particular words by painting them in a complimentary color or you may paint your quote or expression vertically rather than horizontally. Let your imagination run wild.

How do I use Words 2 Paint Stencils?
Words 2 Paint Stencils are made from adhesive-backed vinyl which easily adheres to surfaces and is easily removable. You remove the paper backing, position the stencil, paint the letters, and then remove the stencil. Quickly and easily, you have beautiful hand-painted lettering! Complete instructions are included in every order.

What letter size should I choose?
Most people think that they need larger letters than they actually do. Letter sizes are based on the size of the lower case "L" or capital letter. Several letters (such as f, p, j, and y) have extenders - part of the letter that is below the baseline. So if you order 2-inch letters, your letters will actually fill a space of about 3 inches. Three-inch letters may fill a space of about 4 inches. If you want to create a border in a space that's about 10 - 12 inches tall, you should probably use either 2 or 3-inch letters to leave space at both the top and bottom. With 3-inch letters, you'll have 3 inches on the top, 4 inches for your letters, and 3 inches on the bottom. That works great! If you're not sure what size letters to use, you can always send us an email and we'll help you to decide!

We can cut lettering up to 18 inches in height - from the top of the tallest letter to the bottom of the lowest "extender". We generally do not cut smaller than a 1" letter size. The one-inch is based on the lower case "L".

Stencils can contain as many letters or words as you like. We would generally cut a long stencil in pieces for your ease of placement.

Are Words 2 Paint Stencils reusable?
No, our stencils are designed to be used with wet paints and can be used just once. Some of our clients have been able to reuse them but this is not the norm.

Reusable stencils are made of a heavier Mylar-like material and have "bridges" that hold letters and the center of letters to the Mylar material.

Words 2 Paint lettering stencils contain no "bridges". The end result is truly beautiful lettering.

We recently ordered a sample of  "This lil' light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine" from a reusable stencil company. Their emailed sample showed no bridges, and made no mention of the fact that the stencil would be cut into pieces (often in the middle of words). The email samples we provide show exactly what your stencil will look like.

For Reusable stencils, you use dry stencils paints. With Words 2 Paint lettering stencils, you can use dry, cream, or wet paints.

Does Words 2 Paint make custom logo stencils?
Yes, we do. We can download your logo or you can send us a graphic file or a printout and we can create a custom stencil. Some graphic design charges may apply. For more information and rates, please email us.

Are Words 2 Paint Stencils easy to apply?
Yes, they are! You don't even have to know how to stencil or be "crafty". Easy-to-follow instructions are included with every order. But remember, we are always happy to answer any questions you email to us.

What kind of paint should I use?
You can achieve great effects by using a wide variety of paints; acrylic paint (including metallic), high-quality latex interior, dry stencil paint for rougher surfaces, and cream stencil paint for cloth. Watery paints should be avoided. Our stencils are not recommended for glazed surfaces.

Are Words 2 Paint Stencils expensive?
One of our customers priced having a quote painted on her wall by an artist. The price was $350. Instead she ordered her custom stencil from us at a cost of $35.00! Price is based on font size and length. Generally, the price of the stencil is $.50 an inch.

How long will it take to receive my custom-lettering stencil?
Our goal is to cut and ship your stencil within 2 days of receipt of order. We ship via Priority Mail, which normally takes from 2 to 3 days (East Coast - 2 days, West Coast - 3 days) for U.S. deliveries. We can ship overnight for a nominal additional charge.

When we air on Home and Garden TV, Dream Builders, our delivery time is a bit longer due to the high volume of orders.

Can I see how my stencil idea will look before I order?
We will be happy to email you a sample of your words, quotes, sayings, or logo in the font(s) and style of your choice.

Will I need special tools?
You will need sponge brushes, a mini roller, a container for paint, and tweezers (a weeding tool). All these tools are included in the Words 2 Paint ToolKit that is available for just $15.95. A yardstick and level are also helpful in positioning your stencil.

Restrictions for custom orders?
In Custom Orders you can order stencils that have letters from 1 inch up to 12 inches in height. We do reserve the right to refuse orders that we deem inappropriate.

What fonts work best?
The fonts we have all work well. But, if you have a font in mind that you don't see, ask us - we have hundreds of fonts. We also have many "graphics" such as leaves, flowers, musical notes, stars, moons, animals, etc.

We recommend you avoid narrow fonts or those with intricate backgrounds. Fonts like Tenderleaf and Jokerman are great for names or short words but may be too busy for longer expressions.

We can also create lettering stencils in curves, circles, arches etc. just ask us; however, additional charges may apply.

How do I get started?

What if I make a mistake?
Every stencil order comes with complete instruction and a "sample" to practice with. But if a mistake should occur, contact us and we will make it right at "No Charge" to you. How can we make this offer? Because nothing is more important to us than your satisfaction.

What surfaces can Words 2 Paint stencils be used on?
Our stencils are cut on adhesive-backed vinyl and will adhere to almost any clean, solid surface like wall, doors, furniture, glass, etc. Our stencils are so flexible you can wrap them around corners, on glass, etc. A sample is included with every order for practice. If you have any doubts, email us first.

Our stencils are not recommended for glazed walls due to the many layers of paint that are used.
